Snowmobiles...

Paraplegics and some quadriplegics can drive snowmobiles just as easily as they can drive quadbikes. If you get the chance then I would highly recommend it. They are great fun, and certainly get you into areas of the countryside that would not normally be accessible ...and 60mph seems ever so fast - skidding over snow!

Obviously we don't get to much opportunity in this country so you will probably be abroad when you do ride. Make sure to check out how you are fixed with insurance. You need at least third party cover. Also don't forget whilst you're racing along tracks or perhaps weaving between the trees, you will almost definitely have to pay for any damage to the mobile. Other than that - GO FOR IT.

Anyone who does not have very good balance can still enjoy a ride. If you can operate the hand controls, try getting an able bod to sit behind and use their legs to help stop you sliding off the seat. Or, let them drive and just hold on to them very, very tightly!

There is information on snowmobiles at Winter Park, Colorado, on my Skiing page.
