Employment:				
February 1990 to present.		The company designs and manufactures	
Dowty Aerospace.			precision hydraulic equipment for use within the
Wolverhampton.			        aerospace industry.
						
					I was originally employed as an Inspector in the
					Repair and Overhaul Department. This required
					a good working knowledge of a wide range of  							
                                        measuring instruments, gauges and test procedures.  							
                                        I was also responsible for ensuring that operators						
                                        adhered to procedures for assembly and test.							
                                        
					Modern working practices now involve operator
					control and my position has changed considerably.
					During 1992 to 1994, I worked on a wide variety of 
					contracts in the Repair and Overhaul Department. 
					This included dismantling, strip-reporting,  
					refurbishing, re-assembling and testing 
					hydraulic power flight control units.
							             
					In June 1994 I was involved in a rock climbing 						
                                        accident and I am now paraplegic. I am still 
                                        employed by Dowty Aerospace although again my   
                                        position has obviously changed.

					I am now in charge of all Customer Returns.
					My job involves : 
					Inspection of returned items. Entering details into 
					returns database. Liason with managers to ensure 
					optimum Turn Round Time. Liason with Product Support
					staff to ensure customer requirements are being met.
					Liason with Quality Assurance where any special
					instructions exist or defect investigations are
					required. 
                                        

					I have also designed a spreadsheet that records
                                        the training progress of all employees. This has 
                                        been accepted by the CAA, FAA and Boeing, and is 
                                        in use throughout the company. 

November 1989-February 1990	        Quality Technician. This position was taken on a
Ross Courtney & Co Ltd.		        short term basis with the main objective of	
Kingswinford.				re-establishing adequate quality control procedures 
					and smooth running of their multi-spindle auto lathe 
					department.

Co-ordinator for Dowty Repair & Overhaul Total Quality Management (TQM) Team 1991.
Dowty Total Quality Management Team of the Year Award 1992.
(Team made the most significant contribution to the continuous improvement objectives).
Member of Dowty Continuous Improvement Team 1995-97.
Participant in Advanced Microsoft Excell training course with JBA Software, Birmingham.
Received a monetary Incentive Award from Dowty for designing training spreadsheets.(1999)

Leisure based Achievements and Activities
Vice Chairman and Press Officer of local cycling club 1987 to 1989. (500 Members.)
Served on Committees of three angling clubs.
Sponsored by major mail order fishing tackle company. (Buyrite Fishing Tackle).
Rock Climbing in England, France and Spain up to Grade E4.

POST ACCIDENT...
Achieved Level Three RYA Sailing Certificate 1995.
Including unassisted righting of a capsized dinghy and
completely rigging and reefing a dinghy.
Achieved Level Four RYA Sailing Certificate 1996.
Achieved RYA Competent Crew Certificate 1996 whilst crewing
a 31ft catamaran on a voyage to the Channel Islands.
1996 Tandem paragliding in the Lake District.
1997 Tandem Skydive from FOURTEEN THOUSAND FEET for Back-Up Charity.
1999 Co-ordinator for Back-Up's West Midlands Regional Support Group.
My main leisure pursuits at the present time are Sailing,
Watercolour Painting, using my computer, and Handbiking.
